There's been a lot of hype about the new season of The Walking Dead, and the show's creators are adding to it with assurances that fans won't be disappointed by what happens in the new season's first 90 minutes.

A Moment From Carol & Daryl's Past Will Come Back To Haunt Them

In an appearance at New York Comic Con Oct. 8, series creator Robert Kirkman greeted fans and promised them that the show's upcoming premiere-and the episodes which follow-were going to go in a direction that the show never had before-and the action wouldn't stall.

"This is going to be the most intense season of The Walking Dead yet," he said. "The first few episodes hit the ground running, and there'll be pretty big cliffhangers at the end of every episode."

Jessie & Rick's Romance Not A 'Main Focus'

As for whether the action would include a major villain from the comics-who is known in that universe for having been the one to kill off Glen (Steven Yuen), Kirkman was more cagey about details, neither confirming nor denying that Negan would make an appearance at some point during the season.

"I think it'd be cool for Negan to be introduced into the show, I don't know when that'll happen. I mean, I do, but I can't tell you," he said.

He also revealed that fans of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) could expect to see a lot more of her in a very different light throughout the season, as she continues growing stronger after losing both her father and her sister to other people so far.

"Maggie's character is evolving like all the others; she's become very assertive, she's someone Deanna is working with very closely. She's certainly bridging the gap between the Alexandrians and Rick's group. There's a lot of cool stuff with Maggie coming."

The Walking Dead season 6 premiere airs Sunday, Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
