Jesse Eisenberg won't be playing the villainous Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice after all, at least not the same villain we know and love to hate.

Jesse Eisenberg Hints At 'Geopolitics' Theme In 'Batman v Superman'

Eisenberg is actually playing Lex Luthor's son, Alexander "Lex" Joseph Luthor Jr. in the film. A new Fortune article features a fake profile of the fictitious Lex Luthor Jr. with "quotes" from the "31-year-old wunderkind" himself and a photo of Eisenberg as the character.

"Dad named the company after himself ten years before I made my unexpected entrance into his life," Luthor Jr. "says" in the interview. "But investors seemed to respond to the idea of an adoring father building a legacy for his precious son. He used that to his advantage. It was a good shtick and, whatever else he was, he was a good businessman."

Why Is Ben Affleck's Batman So Bulked Up for 'Batman v Superman'?

Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder and company pulled off quite a con by announcing Eisenberg as Lex Luthor since technically they weren't lying, just led astray thinking he would be playing the classic version of the Superman villain.

The Lex Luthor Jr. article also hints at what it driving him to create the most powerful company in the world:

"It's a necessity," Luthor "says" of investing in military contracts for LexCorp. "We live in the most dangerous point of time in all of human history. Statistically speaking, it's a near certainty that another world-changing crisis is hurtling toward us like a speeding bullet. We have to be ready to defend ourselves. No civilization was ever conquered by having a strong military."

This Fortune article is an inspired piece of viral marketing that will surely get fans even more excited for the movie's upcoming release.

Lex Luthor Jr. even has his own official Twitter page which already has over 18,000 followers.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25, 2016.
