The death of rapper and comedian Freddy E from an alleged suicide on Saturday shocked his fans and close friend Honey Cocaine.

The female MC, whose real name is Sochitta Sal, was interviewed by MTV News on Tuesday and talked about mourning for her departed friend. Cocaine also addressed allegations that she was partly the cause of the rapper's suicide; she said they did not have a romantic relationship.

"What they don't understand is that we were friends, we were just friends. Blogs are saying that I was his ex-girlfriend and he did what he did because of a failed relationship. That has nothing to do with anything," she said. "I need people to understand that it was just a friendship. I just want people to know that we were just friends, and we did everything for each other as friends."

Freddy E, who showcased his work on his JERKTV YouTube channel, sent out dark messages before his suicide.

"If there's a God then He's calling me back home. This barrel never felt so good next to my dome. It's cold & I'd rather die than live alone," he wrote. "It's... all... bad... y'all. *puts finger around trigger* "

Cocaine explained how she learned about his unfortunate death at the age 22. She was returning from the gym and checked her Twitter, only to see the news that Freddy E killed himself. At first she thought it was fake and reacted in an uncharacteristic way by sending out some regrettable tweets.

"I reacted in a way that I shouldn't have and wasn't proud of," she said. "Of course I deleted my tweets, of course. It shouldn't be there. The guy is gone, and that's my friend."

She remembered Freddy E as a strong person who was always in a good mood. At the same time, she believed he had some personal issues that greatly consumed him.

"And I guess he made himself seem happy, but he was really just holding everything inside," she said.
