"Fifty Shades of Grey" rumors continue to run ramped regarding the casting of S&M billionaire Christian Grey in the future film of the saucy read.

After putting on a well-received performance in "Les Miserables," Eddie Redmayne has seemed to catapult to the top of the candidate list for the highly coveted part.

The Sun reported that Redmayne is now the "frontrunner" to play Grey. The 31-year-old former model recently stated to Marie Claire that he has yet to read any of E.L. James' books, but is open to playing the racy character.

"I know there's a huge amount of hype around it [the movie] so I definitely never say never. I've heard so much about this book I see people reading it on the tube and I'm always really impressed that they're reading it on the tube because it's kind of kinky," said Redmayne. "I'm thinking 'What are you getting off on the tube?' I've not read it myself."

Other potential candidates that have come up lately for the Grey character include "Vampire Diaries'" Ian Somerhalder, "Gossip Girl's" Chace Crawford and "Twilight's" Robert Pattinson, among many others.

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" story centers on a recent college graduate named Anastasia Steele who gets herself into a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with the rich and kinky Grey. Through an "agreement," the two delve into a world of bondage and masochism.

In other news, "Fifty Shades" screenwriter Kelly Marcel recently revealed in an interview with Style Magazine that the film will be "raunchy" and have "a lot of sex."

"Well, there is going to be a lot of sex in the film. It will be NC-17. it's going to be raunchy. We are 100 percent going there," Marcel told the publication.

As more details emerge and rumors surrounding the future flick continue to circulate, only time will tell how the casting and story ultimately unfolds.
