Well, Supergirl's kith and kin aren't all printed with a hero's DNA. While Superman and Kara are out to save the world, there is one member of the family that has far more nefarious intentions.

It's time to welcome Astra (Laura Benanti) to the DC family. Invented for CBS's new super-powered drama, Kara's (Melissa Benoist) aunt is clearly up to no good. Armed with a legion of Kryptonian criminals, Alura's sister is ready to "save" Earth in a fashion entirely incompatible with the Zor-El's heroics.

"One of the most interesting things about our show is that everyone is doing what they're doing for the same reasons, they're just going about it in the wrong way," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg informed Entertainment Weekly.

The EP than gave the site a sneak peek at Kara and Astra's first meeting.

"Very soon, when Astra and Kara finally confront each other, Astra says, 'I'm here to save the Earth,' and she'll say, 'I watched one planet die, and I'm not going to do that again.' It's always great when the hero and the villain are two sides of the same coin. Astra's version of saving the Earth is quite different from Kara's."
