"House of Lies" star Don Cheadle is set to make his return to the movie scene to reprise his role as James Rhodes, aka War Machine, in Marvel's "Iron Man 3."

While on the film's TCA Press Tour, the 48-year-old revealed details about the franchise's latest installment and spoke about the overwhelming anticipation the flick has continued to garner.

"I hope that it performs to those levels. We did a little piece of it at Comic-Con and people went crazy," he said. "The script is good. We're doing a couple re-shoots next week, but I'm encouraged."

While Cheadle managed to add a few jokes in the form of false spoilers, he did touch on the dynamic between his character and Iron Man.

"I'm not supposed to say that he kills Robert Downey Jr.'s character. Is that a spoiler? That would be a spoiler. You knew that was coming. You read the comic books," he said. "I will just say that the buddy relationship that these guys have gets tighter. The third act set piece for the big finale is bigger and badder. It's just a lot more."

Aside from Cheadle, "Iron Man 3" also stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau, Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley.

Directed by Shane Black, the upcoming comic book fillm adaptation will feature Iron Man (Downey Jr.) going up against terrorist leader Mandarin (Kingsley). The film's plot will also address personal issues that arose in "The Avengers" movie.

Although the movie's trailer may have insinuated a darker and less comic tone than the franchise's previous films, "Iron Man" producer Kevin Feige told Movie Moron "It's not a serious movie, but we seriously dig into exploring more of Tony. ...What you'll see in Iron Man 3 are some very unique directions being taken."

"Iron Man 3" is set to grace big screens in the United States on Friday, May 3.
