An onlooker saw Russell Crowe and burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese spending time together in New York City's Four Season's Hotel, sparking rumors of a possible romantic relationship.

The 48-year-old Australian actor was seen with Von Teese, former wife of singer Marilyn Manson, in December and a source for The New York Post reported that Crowe and the 40-year-old dancer shared a couple's massage.

Crowe and Von Teese have also reportedly communicated via Twitter, although neither has commented on the exact nature of their relationship.

Last year Crowe re-tweeted her status "Dressage. Was measured for bespoke blk patent boots w/my name stamped on the heel . . . But under whose bed did I leave my Hermes riding crop?"

He also shared another of her Twitter messages, which stated, "Giving airport security a lesson in garter belts this morning."

The "Les Misérables" actor broke up with wife Danielle Spencer in October after nine years together. There have since been reports of Crowe and Spencer reconciling, with the actor also strenuously denying a separate romance with Billy Joel's ex-wife Katie Lee, according to The Daily Mail.

Crowe recently said he wants to spend more time to try and fix his family.

"As soon as I finish this job and can get home, my priority is to try to bring my family back together," he tweeted in December. "These latest reports are false and cruel."

Crowe and Spencer share two sons: 6-year-old Tennyson and 9-year-old Charles. The Daily Mail also reported that the actor could potentially face a $20 million payout to his ex-wife over the separation.

Crowe's next big screen appearance will be in the crime drama "Broken City" with Mark Wahlberg and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The film hits theaters Friday, Jan. 18.
