Get ready for a Supergirl love triangle...with a twist.

'The Flash' Season 2: Cisco Gets A Love Interest! Get The Scoop On A Shocking New Character

Lucy Lane is headed to National City, and James will soon find himself caught between his ex-girlfriend and Kara Danvers. Viewers, however, might find themselves rooting for both 'ships with equal tenacity.

"The most successful love triangles I've ever seen on television are the ones where you have to be able to root for the other person who won't necessarily ever actually be the winner," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly. "Too often in love triangles, if the audience turns on one actor, actress or character, it ruins the other characters as well."

To avoid this, the CBS drama created someone who is both liked by Kara (and the audience) while also possessing a quality that James would be interested even as he has Supergirl right in front of him.

"It was really important for us to find a Lucy Lane who was strong, beautiful, and awesome, but different from Kara, but not so different that she didn't like her, compelling enough, interesting enough and likable enough that you understood why James would want to be with her if he could be with Kara," Kreisberg explained.
