While rumors surrounding the movie version of the E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" continue to seemingly replicate certain frontrunners for the role of Anastasia Steele, one of the names that has managed to slip from the radar is actress Shailene Woodley.

The 21-year-old, who is best known for playing the daughter of George Clooney in "The Descendants," apparently has the interest of James, according to Digital Spy.

With her easy-on-the-eyes looks, similar age and seemingly shy demeanor, Woodley more than certainly fits the mold of the author's created character. At the beginning of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel, Steele is described as a 21-year-old virgin who is very quiet.

The actress playing the female lead would also have to bring an element of sex appeal to the casting table.

Ironically enough, the young actress was highlighted late last year as a potential Steele prospect in a Hollywood Reporter article about on-the-rise actors.

"The next big stars are the actress who plays Anastasia Steele and the actor who plays Christian Grey. They will certainly have an invitation to the A-list table," Twilight producer Marty Bowen was quoted by Digital Spy as saying.

Other potential candidates for the sexy role include Lucy Hale of "Pretty Little Liars," Alexandra Daddario of "Texas Chainsaw 3D," and Krysten Ritter of "Don't Trust The B**** In Apartment 23," among other actresses.

"Fifty Shades" screenwriter Kelly Marcel recently revealed in an interview with Style Magazine that the film will be "raunchy" and have "a lot of sex."

"Well, there is going to be a lot of sex in the film. It will be NC-17. it's going to be raunchy. We are 100 percent going there," Marcel told the publication.

Up until now, James and the producers attached to the film have remained relatively quiet on just how the casting process will unfold. Only time will truly tell whether Woodley is indeed the favorite.
