She's best known to fans as one of the most generous talk show hosts of all time (no one will ever forget the day she literally gave everybody in her studio audience a car) but some of Oprah Winfrey's old employees aren't getting quite a nice gift this holiday season.

According to The Chicago Tribune, Winfrey's Harpo Studios in Chicago has announced they will begin laying off their 183 employees next month after making plans in March to relocate from The Windy City to the West Coast.

The studio, which is known for previously hosting Winfrey's talk show and other programs, is planning to begin the layoff process on Dec. 11, with the goal of completing it by April 1.  The studio's relocation follows Winfrey's own exit four years ago to the West Coast from Chicago. She returned to the studios earlier this year to tell the staff that they would shut down this December.

Sterling Bay will take over the property after the lease runs out in April 2016.

The news comes at the same time that Winfrey announced her annual "Favorite Things" list, which will be in the December issue of her magazine. The full list consists of 87 items of clothing, fashion accessories, kitchen gadgets, edible treats and other items.

Some of the notable items on this year's list include Barbie Fashionista Dolls for $10.00, Pajamas for the entire family for $13-$40, and Andrew Walker Hair Experience Kit for $20, Custom Pet Ornament for $24 each, and more.
