Chelsea Handler, the late night talk show host known for her acid tongue, was reportedly told to quit ripping into "TODAY" anchor Matt Lauer.

Handler, 37, and her staff of writers received the warning from Comcast- the brass that owns both NBC and E!- after she made a dig about the Matt Lauer- Ann Curry feud.

After "TODAY" weatherman Al Roker shared an embarassing admission on a recent "Dateline" interview, saying he "pooped" in his pants during a press visit at the White House, the late night talk show host cracked a joke where she digged into both Roker and Lauer.

"This isn't the first time a TODAY show cast member was in the news about this sensitive subject," Handler joked about Roker's confession. "For years, it was common knowledge that Matt Lauer spent every morning s***ting all over Ann Curry."

A source revealed that Handler and her staff were told to no longer mention Lauer in her jokes.

"Chelsea's writers were warned to lay off Matt," a source close to the show told New York Post. "They don't want them making more fun of Matt and the Ann Curry situation right now."

Handler might not have the best relationship with "TODAY" staff, according to the report.

The comedian and author canceled an appearance on the show at the last minute in November. Handler's rep told New York Post she quit the appearance due to "food poisoning" but later that night Handler appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and said, "That was a lie ... I wasn't sick."

When New York Post asked an E! rep about the report of a warning, the rep told the daily newspaper that it was "absolutely false," and said that "no such request was made."
