Lou Diamond Phillips prefers Longmire now that it's on Netflix instead of A&E.

Netflix Has Renewed 'Longmire' For Season 5 & Fans Are Celebrating All Over Twitter

Longmire made the move to Netflix when A&E cancelled the Western drama after three seasons. The cancellation may have actually turned out for the best for Longmire, though, as the writers can now take more creative liberties.

Phillips, who plays Henry Standing Bear on the series, spoke with Variety recently and voiced his praise of the Netflix model over standard television.

"We were previously constrained to 42 minutes and as a result, a lot of my work hit the floor. With an additional 20 minutes, we can let those moments breathe and round out those characters and it's a much more cinematic experience episode to episode," he explained.

Phillips was also asked about the cliffhanger that ended season 4, a bold move considering those involved did not know if there would be a fifth season.

"I think that speaks to all of our optimism!" Phillips said, of the cliffhanger.

Netflix renewed Longmire for another 10-episode season earlier in the month. The show has a dedicated audience that continue to follow and support the show through its trials and tribulations.

Fans who want to see more of Phillips as they wait for season 5 can catch him in The 33, a new film out in theaters this weekend, centering on the famous Chilean miners rescue.

The premiere date for Longmire season 5 has not yet been revealed, nor has production begun on the fifth season.
