Buzz over the 100th episode of ABC's Once Upon a Time continues to escalate, and now the showrunners are teasing what fans can expect.

Why Are (Presumably) Dead Villains Returning On 'Once Upon A Time' This Season?

The 100th episode of Once Upon a Time, which airs next spring, will be jam packed with special appearances by past OUAT characters, including Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), Cruella de Vil (Victoria Smurfit), Cora (Barbara Hershey), Sidney Glass (Giancarlo Esposito) and more.

But considering most of those characters are dead, it begs the question of how they could possibly show up again. Is it through flashbacks? Special visions? Some other realm of reality?

Well according to showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz in a new interview with Variety, "How about all three?"

This doesn't really confirm or deny anything about their appearances, but it does suggest that the show may be playing with time and reality a bit.

Kitsis explained that the 100th episode, along with the second half of season 5, will "honor" Once Upon a Time.

"What we're really excited about is, we feel like we're going to be honoring the show by really giving you that season one feeling all over again," Kitsis said.

Of course, with all of these characters coming back for the special episode it stands to reason that Sheriff Graham (Jamie Dornan) might too, right? Unfortunately it's not going to happen.

"Jamie Dornan is the number one person people ask about and unfortunately, we cannot make it work, his schedule is too busy," Kitsis said. "We will not be seeing him... You find a star and then other people grab them and then don't share them. We love Jamie and we wish him nothing but the best, and though we're sorry not to see his face in the 100th, I think he'll be there in spirit as Emma wears his shoelaces on her wrist."

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
