Bindi Irwin is excelling in the ballroom on this season of ABC's Dancing With the Stars, but she's also ready to get back to the real world.

Why Nick Carter May Be In Danger Of Just Missing The 'Dancing With the Stars' Season Finale

Irwin has proven herself to be a natural born performer through the current season of Dancing With the Stars. She and Derek Hough have essentially become the couple to beat, and are now one episode away from making it to the finale.

Irwin told reporters backstage after Monday night's show that she's simply trying to make the most of each day and honor her father, the late Steve Irwin.

Why Was 'DWTS' Pro Derek Hough So 'Grumpy' This Past Week?

"Every single day is a chance to be able to make him proud and follow in his footsteps and every day we get in life is such a gift and we have to use it to do great things," she explained. "It's that old saying, you have to do things today because you never know what's happening tomorrow so you have to live each day as if it's your last. And that's sometimes tough to do. We all say it, but not all of us live it so that's something I'm constantly trying to remind myself."

Irwin posted a beautiful message on her Instagram page on Nov. 15, a.k.a. Steve Irwin Day.

The greatest Dad on Earth. November 15. Steve Irwin Day. Remembering everything Dad worked so hard to achieve and continuing his legacy. We miss you so much and are extremely proud to be carrying on in your footsteps. Yesterday we celebrated #SteveIrwinDay in Australia. Today, let's celebrate together on the other side of the world, today on November 15. Thank you for joining us in making a difference. Wearing our khakis and remember everything Dad did to change the world.

While Bindi has enjoyed her Dancing With the Stars experience immensely, she told reporters that she wants to interact with nature again.

"I'm so ready to go sit in a tree!" Irwin said, laughing. "And hug all the animals I haven't seen in months."

Dancing With the Stars airs Monday at 8/7c on ABC. The finale airs the following day at 9/8c.
