Although there has been speculation, suggesting Shelton's relationship with his The Voice co-star, Gwen Stefani, may have led to their split, a new report, shared in the Nov. 30 issue of Us Weekly, claims it was Lambert's refusal to start a family that ultimately drove them apart.

"Although both exes remain mum on the details of their split, sources say Miranda broke a promise to Blake about when they could work on having children together," Hollywood Life revealed on Wednesday. "Sadly the [Us Weekly] source claims that Miranda and Blake made plans to start a family, but when it was time to go through it she just couldn’t keep her word."

Following Lambert and Shelton's split, Shelton's now-girlfriend, Stefani, announced she and her husband of 13 years, Gavin Rossdale, were getting divorced, as well. Then, just three months later, Stefani's rep confirmed she and Shelton were an item.

“Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating,” the spokesperson told Us Weekly.

Hours after the report hit the web, Stefani and Shelton went public with their new romance in Nashville, where Shelton and Lambert had recently attended the Country Music Awards.
