Sega and Gearbox released a new trailer for its upcoming sci-fi shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines which is set for release on Feb. 12.

Previews of the game make it seem that it is shaping up to be one of the best shooting games of the year.

The latest preview is called the "Kick Ass Trailer" in which Sega shows off the more action packed sequences of Aliens: Colonial Marines while a gruff general narrates the events with stereotypical space marine pomp and a heavy dose of dubstep.

The game features rough and tough colonial marines fighting Xenomorph aliens that have entered the public's nightmares thanks to the film franchise started by "Avatar" director James Cameron.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is the latest game created by critically acclaimed Gearbox Software which developed fan-favorite Borderlands and Brothers In Arms.

Fans are eagerly waiting to see how Gearbox handles the balance between sci-fi action and horror that that makes the franchise so popular.

In a statement on Sega's website, the company introduces the first-person shooter as a game "steeped in the eerie, claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere that made the Aliens films successful worldwide."

The statement continues:  "You and your friends will become the most badass military outfit in the galaxy - the US Colonial Marines. It's down to you to not just survive but wipe out the Xeno infestation."

The "Kick Ass Trailer" is a marked departure from past trailers that highlighted the overwhelming odds the marines faced at the hands of the galaxy's most effective killers. The marines in the video live up to the kick ass title.

Aliens: Colonial Marines will be released to the gaming public on Feb. 12 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The Wii U version does not have a release date yet.
