Chris Hemsworth posted a rather unsettling -- for fans who appreciate that hot bod -- picture of him looking scrawny and haggard like Tom Hanks from Cast Away.

The actor put up the image via Twitter and he looks incredibly weak in it, although some body makeup really does the trick. He is also seen wearing a wild scraggly hairdo with full, heavy beard, and his face all grimed up. Through the pic, Hemsworth is also trying to reveal how much weight he lost for his upcoming release, In the Heart of the Sea. While many have drawn obvious comparisons with Hanks from Cast Away, we think he also looks a bit like Matthew McConaughey in the second half of Dallas Buyers Club, when he is ill.

Hemsworth jokingly called the training and diet program that helped him shed those pounds, 'Lost at Sea':

In The Heart of the Sea is based on a bunch of sea men who set out to encounter the myth of Moby Dick. The Ron Howard movie shows great promise, especially with its trailer.

The movie stars Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Tom Holland, Ben Whishaw, and Brendan Gleeson.

In The Heart of the Sea released on December 11.
