The Young and the Restless star Daniel Goddard has been having a seriously difficult time with the injury he suffered on set back in September.

In case you need a refresher, Goddard broke one of his elbows while shooting a combat scene in the middle of September.

Goddard underwent surgery that would "screw and wire" his elbow back together again. The surgery seemed to go over well even though Goddard was on strict orders for resting up.

About a week after his surgery, the soap star was set to head back to the CBS set. At this point he wasn't totally healed, but it was major progress considering he just had a big surgery.

Following his return to set, he updated fans that he would be having his cast changed and then spend just six more weeks in it before beginning rehabilitation to regain movement.

The soap star was then put into a brace and his rehabilitation officially began.

This was early on in October, but since then, the actor has suffered a major setback despite posting a few other positive updates along the way.

In the middle of October he was joking around about being "#RoboCane" on set.

By the end of October, he was still rehabiltating to regain movement.

Plus, at the start of this month he was full of "positive vibes" while heading to an appointment with his surgeon, but things have certainly taken a turn for the worse.

On Tuesday, the soap star took a photo of his elbow looking quite swollen and red, which he posted on Twitter, writing, "Emergency surgery scheduled for today. My body is rejecting the metal in my elbow."

Ouch!

On Facebook he elaborated that he "developed an infection" because of his body's reaction to the metal that's holding his elbow together.

The actor hasn't sent out an update about how the removal of the metal went, but we're hoping it was a successful surgery.

Goddard has really been through a lot in recent months thanks to his job.

The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
