Trainor actually began the performance on her own with her soulful hit "Like I'm Gonna Lose You," which features John Legend on her debut album, before joining Puth for "Marvin Gaye," which turned out to be a fun and eventually steamy performance.

"Proud of you Charlie," she added.

It should be noted that they have kissed before for the music video for this duet, but only a tiny snippet of the start of a kiss made it into the final cut.

Trainor mentioned in her Instagram post she is single and Puth explained on Twitter, "We are just friends."

How can anyone be "just friends" when that kind of passion is oozing out of them? Well, the New Jersey native told Johnjay & Rich exactly how the day after the kiss.

"I'm a very aggressive maker-outer, but Meghan is my friend, and I don't know, like my natural boy instincts kinda just like kicked in," Puth dished, adding, "So I was like all nervous before, like 'How am I going to make this look real, because I'm not attracted to her in that way?' She's like my friend."
