Grey's Anatomy has seen many characters come and go over the years, whether through death or their decision to move on from Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

'Grey's Anatomy' Star Martin Henderson Declares He's Not A McDreamy Replacement!

One character that is still alive, though not on Grey's Anatomy these days, is Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh). She is the ex-wife of Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) who first appeared in the Season 1 finale.

Addison definitely brought plenty of drama to Grey's Anatomy and ABC even gave her a spin-off with Private Practice. Over the years, though, even while on Private Practice, Walsh made appearances on Grey's Anatomy. Private Practice concluded its run on Jan. 22, 2013. Walsh hasn't reprised her role on Grey's Anatomy since February 2012.

Kevin McKidd Would 'Introduce A Long-Running Villainous Character' To 'Grey's Anatomy' If He Were In Shonda Rhimes' Shoes!

Back in March the actress admitted she "absolutely would" make a cameo on Grey's Anatomy in the future, but her tune has since changed.

Hollywood Life reported Tuesday that Walsh feels as though Dr. Addison Montgomery is a role of the past now.

"I love [Shonda Rhimes] and we're tight and we definitely want to work together again. But I just feel like I played Addison, and I'm so happy fans love that character and it's so memorable," she said, adding, "It was a great role for me to play - I'm happy and grateful and thrilled that I got to do it, but I did it for nine years, so for me, just as an actress, it's important to move on."

She added her focus is doing just that now.

"I'm looking for the next thing I want to do. I'm looking to do a play in New York. I'm looking to do the next series. And that's sort of where I'm at with it. But again, I'm thrilled people loved it and she became such an iconic character," she dished.

Grey's Anatomy airs on ABC on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
