We know Doctor Strange begin filming in Nepal early this fall, but Marvel seized Thanksgiving as an opportunity to officially announce the film's turn in front of the cameras.

The second piece of Phase 3, Doctor Strange is slated to hit theaters in just under a year. Marvel revealed a portion of the cast on Thursday, confirming what fans already knew - Sherlock's Benedict Cumberbatch will feature alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton.

What Marvel didn't do, however, is reveal which talented performer is assigned to which role. All fans know for sure is that Cumberbactch is the titular lead while Tilda Swinton will take on a gender-swapped version of The Ancient One.

Doctor Strange recently concluded a stint in Kathmandu, Nepal, and soon the production will travel to London, New York, and Hong Kong while also setting up shop at a studio in England.

While brief, the official synopsis is as follows:

"Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions."

Horror aurator Scott Derrickson will make his MCU debut as director.
