It's been awhile since one team truly dominated the competition on The Amazing Race and went on to eventually win the $1 million prize, but are season 27's The Green Team on track to do such a thing once again?

A Third U-Turn Ups The Drama On 'The Amazing Race'

Justin and Diana, who gained notoriety as Super Fans of the show with the viral video of Justin's Amazing Race themed proposal last year, have proven themselves as competitors as well throughout the season. They've earned a total of seven first place finishes thus far and have one leg to go before they head back to the U.S. for the final.

Before Justin and Diana's dominance, Rachel and Dave, the eventual winners of season 20, held the record of seven leg wins before crossing the finish line first, giving them a total of eight wins. If Justin and Diana's dominance was to continue, they would not only be the winners of season 27-but the record holders for most leg wins overall.

The U-Turn Brings About An Unexpected Elimination

Naturally the couple isn't revealing whether or not they won yet on social media, though Justin has told fans how much they hope to not disappoint them by winning as many more first place finishes as they can get.

"Thank you for the kind words! You know #TheGreenTeam will fight with everything we got to get that 1st place finish!" he wrote Nov. 30.

However, underdogs have also proven themselves in recent seasons, meaning one of the other remaining teams could still pull an upset in the final leg. Neither The Reporters, The Cheerleaders or The Paparazzi have pulled off a first-place finish yet during the season, but they are all still very much in the race.

Twice since Rachel and Dave were crowned as the most winsome team in the show's history, teams which didn't win a single leg before the final managed to cross the finish line first and take home the $1 million prize. Season 21's winners, Josh and Brent (The Fabulous Beekman Boys), beat their competitors after never winning a single leg. That same feat was repeated in Season 25, when scientists Amy and Maya beat the other teams to win in a surprise victory.

The Amazing Race airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
