Dark Horse Books and Nintendo released the book The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia in North American stores today.

The book, which was originally released in Japan in 2011, is a comprehensive guide to the long-running action-adventure game series and provides readers with every bit of information they could want to know about the Zelda universe, according to The Verge.

As of today, the book is at the top of Amazon's charts for best sellers in North America.

It includes a full history of the land of Hyrule, as well as an official timeline of the games. Historia is also loaded with concept art from the series, some of which has never been released before.

The introduction was written by gaming legend Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong, according to WiiUDaily.

Cinema Blend reported that the 280-page hardcover time is priced at $34.99. Dark Horse also created a $70 Limited Edition with a faux leather cover and gilded pages that had a production run of only 4,000 copies.

The publication of the book comes after the latest announcement from Nintendo about new games in the series.

Nintendo announced on Jan. 23 at the Nintendo Direct conference that a remake of "The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker" is in the works along with an untitled game in the series for the Wii U, set to be released on an unspecified date in fall 2013, , according to Forbes.

A new trailer for the remake was posted last week to YouTube  by the official UK branch of Nintendo.

The game will be a high-definition reboot version of the 2003 GameCube role-playing game. The new Zelda will update the cartoonish graphics of the old game for a re-mastered look and will be designed to be used with the new Nintendo GamePad.
