Kmart workers in Seattle on Monday found a package of marijuana with postage noting that it was on its way to Philadelphia, according to Seattle Weekly.

Police were called to a Aurora Avenue N Kmart after 10 pounds of pot was found at the store wrapped in garbage bags, packing peanuts and cleaning-fluid-soaked pages from a Korean newspaper.

Kmart employees opened a box that was delivered to their store only to find 10 pounds of drugs.

Police said the package was originally shipped via UPS from Los Angeles with an intended destination to a Philadelphia address, but it somehow stopped in Seattle along the way. For some reason the box's sender used the address for the Aurora Kmart on the return label.

The marijuana was taken by police as evidence and authorities are investigating the matter. A Kmart company spokesperson said Thursday afternoon they had not been contacted by Seattle police.

The Kmart store in North Seattle where marijuana was delivered is scheduled to close Sunday, March 17, since opening in the 1970s.The staff told customers the lease was doubled by the property owner and that Kmart did not renew.

Marijuana was recently legalized in Washington State following the passage of Initiative 502:

"I-502 authorizes the sale of marijuana in Washington State by retailers licensed through the Liquor Control Board. The rules implementing the initiative will not be completed for about one year. You can find information about the implementation of I-502 on the Washington State Liquor Control Board's website. The initiative does not amend or repeal the medical marijuana laws (chapter 69.51A RCW) in any way. The laws relating to authorization of medical marijuana by healthcare providers are still valid and enforceable."
