Speculation about who will land the role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" has been going on since news broke that the popular "steamy" book was going to be adapted to the big screen.
Most rumored candidates (as it could be expected) are well-built, good looking actors, with huge female-fan base. One of the front-runners for the role is "Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder who even said in an interview with Ryan Seacrest that he would be interested in the role of the S&M-crazed billionaire.

Other potential candidates that have come up for the Grey character include Gangster Squad's Ryan Gosling, Game of Thrones Jason Momoa and Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford, amongst many other notable actors.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie screenwriter, Kelly Marcel, has admitted publicly that "some names have been floating about," but that casting for the movie will not take place until a director is assigned to the film, and the script is completed, Wet Paint reported.
