The first week of the defense case for accused murderer Jodi Arias has uncovered several secrets for the mousy brunette and her murder victim.

Arias' legal team called in friends and exes of both Arias and Travis Alexander, an ex-boyfriend she admitted she killed in an act of self-defense. When the trial resumed on Tuesday, Jan. 29., Arias' legal team called in several defense witnesses to support their case that Alexander was a liar, cheater and sexual deviant who was not as religious and innocent as prosecutors  portrayed him to be earlier in the trial. Alexander, 30, was a motivational speaker and devout Mormon.

Alexander's body was discovered in his Mesa, Arizona home on June 4, 2008, police discovered he had been shot in the face, stabbed 27 times and his throat was slit from ear to ear

On day 11 of the first-degree murder trial, an ex-girlfriend of Alexander's was brought into testify that he lied and cheated on her with Arias. Lisa Diadoni dated Alexander in 2007 after he broke up with Arias. Diadoni and Alexander, both devout Mormons, met at a singles church in July, 2007. Diadoni testified that she was saving herself for marriage and never had sexual intercourse with Alexander. Diadoni assumed that Alexander was also a virgin so she was shocked to hear from his roommate that he was sleeping with his ex-girlfriend Arias while dating her.

"After Travis' death were you shocked to learn that he was not a virgin?" Arias' defense attorney Jennifer Wilmott asked Diadoni on Wednesday.

"Yes," Diadoni replied.

Diadoni said she thought Alexander was very sexual because when they made out it was far "too long" and in public he would "grab her butt." She added that when she asked him not to discuss sex "he did anyway," according to The Huffington Post.

On day 12 it was uncovered that Alexander was having a secret sex affair with Arias and sending lewd photos of himself to her online which is against Mormon laws and values. A friend of the murder victim testified that he was unaware that Alexander was even having sex, much less with Arias. Daniel Freeman testified on Thursday that Alexander did not tell him he was intimate with Arias and that she was never at Alexander's home when he went to visit him, so he assumed that their friendship was platonic. Arias, Alexander and Freeman were all members of a Mormon church.

The last shocking secret uncovered was not revealed in court. HLN host Nancy Grace broke the news that when she went to tour the Estrella Jail in Phoenix, Arizona, where Arias is currently living, she learned  that Arias is in a new relationship with a fellow female inmate.

Grace broke the storythat Arias has a secret lesbian lover on Jan. 30. She asked legal expert Matt Zarrell for his thoughts on her secret love affair. Zarrell stated that Arias' new relationship is more proof that she can "charm her way into any relationship... but this time it is with the same sex, with a female."

The identity of Arias' secret lesbian lover was not identified.

Arias will likely face the death penalty if she is convicted of murder. If so, Arias will be the fourth woman in Arizona's history to die by lethal injection.

The jury was sent home for the weekend after the day 12 hearing ended on Thursday. The trial will resume on Monday, Feb. 4, at 10:30 a.m. PST/7:30 EST.
