The St. Louis Blues (6-1-0) will square off against the Detroit Red Wings (3-2-1) in what surely will be a highly competitive NHL matchup on Friday night at the Joe Louis Arena.

The Blues are currently off to their best start in 15 years. St. Louis continues to play as a cohesive unit, getting big contributions from several different team members.

The Blues will aim for their fifth consecutive victory when they visit the Red Wings, who will look to rebound from their worst season-opening defeat in over fifty years.

With a win, St. Louis can tie their 7-1-0 start from the 1997-98 season. After suffering its only lose to the undefeated Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 22, the team has responded with four victories in a row, including a 4-1 win over Columbus on Thursday.

The Blues scored three goals within the game's first 14 minutes of play. All four of the goals came from different players and seven players obtained assists as well.

St. Louis' performance showcased how much depth they have on offense, and now have three players with a minimum of four goals while five others have at least four assists.

"That's what our whole team is about. We're not a team that relies on three or six guys. It's going to be a team effort every night. Some guys put the puck in the net one night and it's going to be picked up by other guys another night," Barret Jackman, who scored his second goal within three minutes into the matchup told ESPN.
