A banner day for Outlander left fans ebullient, but a Golden Globes snub has put a hitch in their jaunty walk.

'Outlander' Season 2 Trailer: Jamie Is Having Doubts In First Teaser, Sam Heughan Teases Paris Fears

The Starz series snagged three Golden Globes noms on Friday, landing a spot in the ballot for TV Drama, Actress in a TV Drama (Caitriona Balfe as Claire), and Supporting Actor in a TV Series (Tobias Menzies as Frank/Black Jack). While their inclusion in the awards is certainly nothing to shrug at, many are disappointed that Sam Heughan was not considered for his turn as Jamie Fraser.

"He was a huge part of the success of the show. We've always thought of he, Cait, and Tobias as our big three," executive producer Ron Moore told Entertainment Weekly. "It's just a very competitive year, a very tough field. I wish Sam was included, but in our hearts he absolutely is because he's incredibly deserving."

That being said, Moore believes Heughan will have a better shot next year. Season 1 revolved largely around Claire, but Jamie will have far more screen time during the sophomore run.

If Heughan was bothered by the snub, he didn't show it. The actor quickly took to Twitter to congratulate Balfe, Menzies, and the crew as a whole.
