Joe Paterno's widow will be conducting her first interview since her husband's death and the Jerry Sandusky trial, as she's now scheduled to appear on Katie Couric's daytime talk show in an episode that will be on air this upcoming Monday.

Sue Paterno, who was married to the legendary and controversial 50-year Penn State football coach, will be in the studio with Couric for an episode of the nationally syndicated show "Katie."

The Los Angeles Times reports that both Couric and Paterno have already gotten to know one another at Paterno's home in State College, Pa.

Joe Paterno had been the head coach for the Nittany Lions for just about as long as he was married, from 1966 thru 2011. He led the college program to two national titles and 409 wins, which was a major-college record until 111 of those victories were voided out by the NCAA as part of the backlash from the Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal.

Paterno ended up being terminated by the school in the days following the release of the scandal in 2011.  However, he ended up passing away from lung cancer in January 2012.

Paterno's on-campus statue was removed last July, just days after he and three other former school officials had accusations against them of covering up for Sandusky by former FBI director Louis Freeh, who led the school's investigation into the scandal.

Many members of Paterno's family and several of the Penn State fans feel that Paterno's part in the scandal has been blown out of proportion.

Sue's interview with Couric will be the talk show host's second big sports-related interview in the past couple of weeks.  Late last month, she spoke with former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o, getting his first comments since telling the world that his alleged late girlfriend never actually existed.
