One Direction's hiatus does not officially begin until March, which is in a few months, but Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson experienced quite the sensitive evening on Sunday as they headed back to the show that started their careers: The X Factor.

What 'Christmas Presents' Did DNCE's Joe Jonas Give One Direction's Liam Payne?

One Direction has performed on The X Factor in the United Kingdom multiple times since getting put together on the show, and the band has performed on the now defunct The X Factor in the United States amongst a few others.

Obviously performing on their home turf is the most touching, though, considering the history there for them.

Why Was One Direction's Niall Horan Freaking Out While On James Corden's 'Late Late Show'?

The band gave two heartfelt performances of new single "Infinity" and the song to their fans, "History," which led to an adorable group hug as seen below.

Following their final X Factor performance before their well-deserved break begins, each member took to Twitter to share how they feel about it all. Grab some tissues since these guys are tugging on heartstrings!

"To you, you have changed our lives and no words will ever be good enough to thank you for what we have done together," Styles stated.

The youngest 1D member even revealed he views the fans as his teammates. Totally sweet, right?

The oldest 1D member followed Styles' example and continued to spew such emotionally fueled tweets.

"Well that was an emotional night!!" Tomlinson divulged, adding, "Never can we thank you enough for how special you have made the last five years for us!"

Tomlinson also made it clear they will be back in the future since that has been questioned time and time again, as he and his bandmates made it known that they were taking a break.

Payne made light of the situation initially, joking he was "off to the job centre."

He followed that up by thanking everyone that helped get him and his bandmates to the point they're at.

He also noted "life couldn't be better" as he was out and about shopping.

Then the Irish band member had similar sentiments to share, admitting, "5 of the best years of our lives so far."

Plus, like Tomlinson, he promised they'll be back in the future, but for now they're all looking forward to having tons of downtime.

If the band is this emotional after performing for the last time on that X Factor stage, we wonder how they'll be once the hiatus truly does start.
