Who would not believe, the reality transgender star, Caitlyn Jenner was named Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating Person of 2015.

Apparently, this was not something new to the 66-year-old reality star, way back she also received the same recognition.

“Our choice for the most fascinating person of the year was once called the world’s greatest athlete,” Walters announced. “Traditionally that title was given to the man who won the Olympic decathalon. When Bruce Jenner won it in 1976, it was a huge accomplishment that had everybody talking. But it was nothing like this. When Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn Jenner, there was a seismic shift in the gender universe.”

According to Entertainment Tonight, the annual special event which highlighted some of the most interesting people such as Amy Schumer, Tracy Morgan, and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders among other celebs Walters dubbed as “most fascinating.” It also showcased Jenner’s transition, her reality show, I Am Cait, and the various honors that the transgender reality star has received throughout the year as she “transformed society.”

“She was a lightning rod for criticism,” Walters said pertaining to Jenner. “First, for the [Arthur Ashe] Courage Award that ESPN gave her. Then for the glamourous style of her transition. But Caitlyn’s celebrity brought new attention to the grim reality of life for many transgendered people.”

Meanwhile Jenner was also recognized as the Glamour Women of 2015, for her work in transgender awareness and advocacy.

According to her speech, as Jenner opened about her emotional journey after coming out as a transgender last April and said that such turning point gave her a new purpose in life.

"My transition was very, very long," Caitlyn said. "I had many many, many years of isolation from the world, of lying to the world, of not being myself. I got to a point a few years ago, I was back out in Malibu in my home, all alone, had raised wonderful children -- and I thought, what am I going to do with my life? I've isolated and lied to myself and lied to the world for so long, what am I going to do with my life?"

"But all of a sudden after making this decision and coming out, it was by far the best thing I ever did," she continued. "Because for so many years I lost my enthusiasm for life, literally staying in my house for almost six years. Because I never really wanted to come out, just to go work, that was about it. Now, actually, I like going out, and I like being myself. "
