Microsoft is reportedly working on the second-generation for the motion control Kinect that may launch near the release of Xbox 720.

The recent rumors for Kinect 2 were reported by ComputerandVideoGames,  which cited sources close to Microsoft's latest product development. The development kits for the next motion control system have allegedly been released to select game developers but little details were released.

Documents from 2010 that were supposedly related to Kinect 2 were also reported by the site, stating that Microsoft is going to use new "stereo senor imaging" technology to create a "full-body hi precision" control system.

The release date for Kinect 2 is unknown but it may be released with Microsoft's new IllumiRoom, as the two devices will work hand-in-hand.

The Xbox 720 is rumored to use the new IllumiRoom technology, which will create an immersive gaming experience that can change the appearance of a room. The technology uses the Kinect sensor and a digital projector that scans the room to create a new way for gamers to play.

A statement on the Microsoft Research website introduced the new technology: "IllumiRoom is a proof-of-concept Microsoft Research project designed to push the boundary of living room immersive entertainment by blending our virtual and physical worlds with projected visualizations. The effects in the video are rendered in real time and are captured live -- not special effects added in post processing."

The new motion control technology coupled with the immersive use of IllumiRoom will surely make for a total experience with the Xbox 720.

The current rumored specs for Microsoft's upcoming console list an 8 core CPU running at 1.6GHz, 8GB of RAM, 800 MHz graphics card, Blu-ray disc drive and feature Gigabit Ethernet, according to TechRadar.

Microsoft may unveil the Xbox 720 with IllumiRoom and Kinect 2 at the Game Developers Conference in March or at E3 in June, according to a report by VideoGamer.com.
