Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will attempt to show the "real consequences of violence" and lives lost, according to star Ben Affleck.

Death and violence will have impact in Batman v Supermaaccording to Affleck, speaking with French magazine Studio Cine Live (and translated by Batman-News.com).

"It's more than just entertainment, it's also trying to show that there are real consequences to violence," Affleck said of the movie's vision. "When a building collapses, people die, and those are lives lost forever."

Affleck, who will play Batman in the film, discussed his character's mindset as he goes toe to toe with Superman (Henry Cavill).

"He really thinks Superman is an existential menace," Affleck explained, "and he believes destroying him will be his legacy."

Of course, Affleck would not say whether Batman or Superman prevails by the end of the film, but suggested that a more complicated answer may result.

"Well... When you see the film, you'll realize it's more complicated than that! There's no real winner. I like the idea that Truth is the winner," he said.

As with Man of Steel, Batman v Superman appears to be attempting to find gray area in a frequently black vs. white world of superhero movies.

Batman v Superman also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
