Beyoncé may have pushed the boundaries at the Super Bowl in New Orleans with her electrifying performance and choreography, but she also turned quite a few heads with her black leather-and-lace jumpsuit.

The pop star chose none other than designer Rubin Singer to come up with the leather look for the halftime show on Feb. 3.

The inspiration for Beyoncé's leather number may have come from another legendary performer, according to the Examiner. It's a performer who the pop star has admired throughout her career - Tina Turner. The pop icon wore a very similar black outfit in 1979.

Turner rose to fame as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Review in the early 1960s and soon after were a number of hits that she has become known for, including Proud Mary and River Deep-Mountain High. However, it was her 1984 solo effort Private Dancer that transformed Turner into a mega superstar, thanks to hits like What's Love Got to Do with It.

Beyoncé had the opportunity to perform with her idol during the 2008 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, when both stars blew the crowd away while wearing plenty of shimmery silver that sparkled. The news report noted that it was the first time Turner, then 68, had performed in more than seven years. While she may not have move quite like she did during her Proud Mary days, Turner still looked amazing in a silver lamé capri-and-bustier outfit.

Beyoncé's stylists drew inspiration for her 2008 outfit from Turner's silver number. The Halo star managed to hold her own in a short number with sequins and a neckline that was quite similar to Turner's.
