Michael Waltrip will drive a car with a special Sandy Hook Support Fund paint scheme in the Feb. 24 Daytona 500, according to ESPN.

The tribute car is part of a joint effort by the two-time Daytona 500 champion, Swan Racing - which will supply Waltrip with the No. 26 car - and NASCAR to help raise awareness and draw in contributions for the fund. The No. 26 car also has a special significance because its number represents the 20 children and six adults killed by gunman Adam Lanza on Dec. 14. The shooting took place at Sandy Hooks Elementary School in Connecticut.

NASCAR chairman Brian France ahd his wife already donated $50,000 to the fund, which The NASCAR Foundation will match, according to the report.

"It hit me that the NASCAR industry and our passionate fan base have an unbelievable opportunity to rally around this cause and make a huge difference for a community in need," France said. "I am excited to witness firsthand the NASCAR community's embrace and support of the Sandy Hook School Support Fund."

France, Waltrip, and NASCAR officials introduced the No. 26 paint scheme to the public during Thursday's media day held at the Daytona International Speedway. Children and families of Sandy Hook victims in Newton saw the paint job at a private event last week.

"Driving the No. 26 Sandy Hook School Support Fund Toyota is like nothing I have ever been part of in my NASCAR career," Waltrip said. "It will be an emotional week knowing that we have the potential to do so much good for the Newtown community. I'm racing for a reason."

Waltrip usually runs for Swan Racing in the No. 30 car.
