Steven Spielberg and Warner Bros. are nearing a deal for Spielberg to direct Gods and Kings according to Deadline. The film is described as "'Braveheart'-ish version of the Moses story" mixed with the "gritty reality" of "Saving Private Ryan."

Warning Bros. has been after Spielberg since last September to direct the film. While Spielberg has been busy filming Lincoln and will soon start on Robopocalypse, it seems he will carve time out of his busy schedule to begin filming Gods and Kings in March or April of 2013.

The movie would focus on Moses and his journey through life.

There have been glossy versions of the Moses story but this would be a real warrior story,” a source told Deadline.
