One Direction has evolved a lot since its formation on The X Factor in 2010!

See What We Expect 2016 To Bring For One Direction!

Fans of the boy band knew from the beginning that Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne bumped heads a bit at first but have since developed an epic friendship. They have written many of 1D's songs together along with other co-writers.

But fans may be shocked to learn former 1D member Zayn Malik was unsure of his dynamic with Payne back during their X Factor days.

An Early One Direction Collaborator Got Nostalgic On Instagram About Band!

A contestant, Sophia Wardman, who was also part of that season of The X Factor has been blogging about her own journey through it. She was put into the girl group Belle Amie at the time.

Wardman revealed an interesting bit about Malik and Payne in her blog post from Dec. 13. At this point in the competition, the groups arrived in Marbella, Spain for the Judges' Houses portion.

She mentioned the contestants in the groups stayed at a hotel and she and her bandmate Geneva Lane went to mingle with Malik in his room where he opened up about his uncertainty over Payne.

"We were chatting about the other acts, who we thought was good/nice and spoke about our own group dynamics. Luckily for us we were getting on quite well at the time, however Zayn had some uncertainty about how he was getting on with Liam. He told us that he felt like Liam always 'boasted' about his past achievements," Wardman noted in her blog.

Payne previously appeared on The X Factor and decided to go for it again.

"I suggested that he maybe look at other possible reasons he might be 'boasting;' maybe he's trying to be accepted? Maybe he wants you to be proud of him? Perhaps he's just insecure and doesn't feel as important as you or the others?" Wardman revealed in her blog about the advice she gave Malik in regard to his feelings toward Payne at the time.

Can you believe Malik and Payne weren't exactly on good terms at first? It never seemed that way, but Wardman was there behind-the-scenes with them.
