A college professor at West Liberty University in West Virginia banned Fox News and reportedly told her students that the "biased" station made her "cringe," The Daily Caller reported Friday.

Stephanie Wolfe, a visiting assistant professor, stated her rules to the class out loud to avoid any misunderstanding. The professor wanted to make sure that her students did not quote from the news station in any of their course work during the semester.

The syllabus for the political science course instructed students on what sources they could and could not use. The Onion, which is a parodied source of real news, was also banned from their use.

Here are a portion of the rules that the professor included on her course syllabus:

"DO NOT use:

1) The Onion - this is not news this is literally a parody

2) Fox News - The tagline "Fox News" makes me cringe. Please do not subject me to this biased news station. I would almost rather you print off an article from the Onion (sic)."

Professor Wolfe's personal citation requests of the news station resulted in the West Virginia school gaining a lot of media attention, partly due to the numerous complaints from both students and parents who were bothered by the professor's decision, according to The Examiner.

Many of these students and parents took their concerns to local media through letters and media, according to WTOV9Parents stated that it was unfair to the students to push certain news sources over others based on their political leaning.

"If students have concerns about these types of issues, they can approach their department chair, they can approach the dean," said Robin Capehart, president of West Liberty University. "One of our values at West Liberty is to encourage students to go out and inquire and gather information and look at as many different sources as possible on any side, before you reach your opinion,"

Professor Wolfe has not spoken to the press about the matter.
