World champion skier Lindsey Vonn shared a photo of her busted right knee and bruised left leg, after she underwent an operation to repair ligaments torn in a crash.

The 28-year-old athlete tore her anterior-cruciate and her medial-collateral knee ligaments, after a much anticipated race between her and Tina Maze of Slovenia in the Alpine Ski World Championships ended with a serious accident.

In a photo released by Vonn on her Facebook page, it showed how bad her legs were injured. Both Vonn's legs are covered in bruises, cuts, bandages and scars.

She posted this image on Feb. 15 with the caption: "My knee looks...um...not very good.... #longskirtsthissummer #ugh"

The medical records released by the National Ski Council Federation reported that Vonn could possibly be out for the entire season, but didn't give a return date.

The four-time overall World Cup champion and rumored girlfriend of Tiger Woods lost her balance on the skis during the super-G. She received medical treatment for several minutes before being rushed to the nearest hospital via helicopter.  Vonn's surgeon said he was optimistic for a full recovery.

Dr. Bill Sterett, a physician for the U.S. Ski Team, performed the procedure on the four-time overall World Cup champion Sunday morning in Vail.

In a statement issued by the ski team, Sterett said the surgery went well and that she was resting comfortably.

"The overall success rate for ACL/MCL surgery is very good. Modern surgical techniques combined with aggressive rehabilitation will help Lindsey make a full recovery," said Sterett, who's also a surgeon at Vail-Summit Orthopaedics. "She will do everything in her power to return as quickly as possible to competitive skiing," said Sterett.

Vonn wrote this Facebook message on Feb. 11:

"Success! Surgery went very well yesterday and I'm recovering at home in vail with my family. I want to sincerely thank everyone for their well wishes these last few days. It's going to be a long and hard road back but I will be back!! Xoxo Lv @gopro #postsergurypic #idontlikehospitalpics"
