Things seem to be going from bad to worse for Sean Penn these days. The temperamental Hollywood actor is getting a lot of heat for interviewing Mexican fugitive Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman back in October and now there's a report that says Penn used some of the funds from one of his charity organizations to pay for his personal travel expenses last year.

According to Naughty Gossip on Tuesday, Penn supposedly used $126,000 to pay for his flights and hotels in 2015. Well both his fans and critics alike seem to be outraged over this, a rep for the big screen star says he used the funds because of "his celebrity status and for consideration of his safety."

To make matters worse, Penn's interview with Guzman was published by Rolling Stone Magazine over the weekend and only a few days after he was arrested in a raid that killed five people. Guzman escaped a maximum security prison in Mexico back in July and the interview took place last October.

Fortunately for Penn though, it doesn't look like he'll be spending any time behind bars for the interview.

Georgetown University Law School Professor Paul Rothstein explained, "There is no criminal liability for seeing something illegal and not reporting it."

He added, "If Sean Penn did nothing more than visit and report, he is protected by the First Amendment, and is in the clear."
