The atomic age is set to send Agent Carter rocketing into the world of Doctor Strange.

'Agent Carter' Season 2 Premiere: Peggy's Job Is On The Line In 2-Hour Return, Epiosde Synopsis

The MCU has skirted the edges of the Darkforce storyline before--think Agents of SHIELD's Blackout--but Agent Carter's second season will attack the mysterious phenomenon head on, just in time for Doctor Strange to enter the scene.

When season 2 begins, Peggy (Hayley Atwell) will relocate to Los Angeles in order to investigate a murder with ties to Isodyne Energy and an element called Zero Matter. Also known as Darkforce, this element came to Isodyne's attention while they were testing atomic bombs during WWII.

'Doctor Strange' Movie: Three New Filming Locations Announced, Is Marvel Coming To Your City?

"One of these tests didn't go as expected. You'll learn more about that in Season 2, but they stumble upon what people in the Marvel Universe will know as Darkforce, but because they've never seen it before they just name it Zero Matter," showrunner Michele Fazekas told Comic Book Resources. "That's our tie-in to the 'Doctor Strange' universe, and also to 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' because you've seen it in 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' as well..."

Considering Darkforce affects characters in incredibly different ways, we're looking forward to finding out what iteration of the force Carter will encounter.
