In an interview with Variety, Matt Damon dished some about working on the fifth instalment of the Bourne series, and how far in they were with filming.

The actor revealed that his character Jason Bourne would have been off the grid for about 12 years when he returns in the movie.

"...you'll find the character--like The Bourne Ultimatum, the third act actually in the movie dovetails with the third act of The Bourne Supremacy. So technically when the Bourne character disappears, it's still 2004," he said. "So when this next one comes out in '16, it will have been 12 years--in movie years--that the character as been off the grid. So what's happened in those intervening years gives you a story."

Damon also spoke about the filming schedule, and it seems like filming might be on its way to completion right about now.

"We started in September but they're going dark for most of December and cutting basically the first two acts," he said. "And then we have the third act and then whatever we owe from the first two acts."

Not much is known about the yet untitled film so far except of the fact that Julia Stiles is set to reprise her role. The movie has a bunch of new cast members too including the likes of Tommy Lee Jones, Riz Ahmed, Vincent Cassell and Scott Shepherd.

The yet untitled movie is expected to release on July 29, 2016.
