Barry (Grant Gustin) spent season 1 hung up on Iris (Candice Patton), but their path to a romantic partnership has been littered with hazards. A peek at their Earth-2 doppelgangers, however, has left viewers with a renewed sense of hope.

Patton couldn't spill too much about Barry's upcoming journey through the breaches - Earth-1 Iris will not accompany him - but she did give IGN a taste of what's in store for the West/Allen clan.

"It's so hard for me to answer this question, but I will say is what's nice is Barry, Iris and Joe, from what I can assume and tell just by being on the show, is they have a relationship that's so grounded it transcends time and Earth, and somehow they always seem to find each other on every timeline in every universe," Patton teased, confirming that the Earth-2 characters definitely "know each other!"

From the following promo, it certainly looks like there is a romantic spark between the two. According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, WestAllan fans should keep their eyes on the pair throughout the spring run.

"Things are going to change for them in a way that I think [is] going to make fans happy," Kriesberg told TV Line.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
