After a continuous slew of buzz and casting rumors, the film adaptation of the Fifty Shades of Grey novels by E.L. James may finally have an estimated timetable set for its big screen debut.

Celebrity Smack states that Chairman of Universal Pictures, Adam Fogelson, revealed that the highly anticipated flick could be out as early as the summer of 2014, which still has many fans wanting out even sooner.

Fogelson defended the time it takes to make such a film, saying that he's not looking to rush its release.

"I understand why some people might take that point of view.  But I don't believe that EL James had any interest in going to a studio where rushing it into production was the vision.  I don't believe that the second or third film would have benefitted from that strategy.  And I think that there are totally legitimate questions about what this book is as a movie.  I will tell you that it is an absolute priority for us.  It's conceivable that we could be ready to release it as early as next summer."

Fogelson also shot down any previous rumors that actress Angelina Jolie would be signed on to direct the saucy movie.

"No. We're involved in a different project [the World War II drama Unbroken] with her. But we have had really, really interesting, great conversations with talented, serious filmmakers."

The sexually explicit "Fifty Shades of Grey" premise revolves around a recent college graduate Anastasia Steele, who gets herself caught up in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with the dominant Christian Grey, through an "agreement," as they both explore the world of bondage and masochism.

Only time will tell when James and her team of producers will ultimately go into production, let alone do the casting.
