Cops haven't exactly had a lot of good PR lately. It seemed the news of 2015 was filled with almost nothing but stories of police shootings, brutality and arguments/debates about the racial politics in policing. So it can be pretty easy to forget that part of a cop's job is to reach out to the community, and the majority of police officers are good people working to protect citizens.

A prime example? Officer Booby White from the Gainsville Police Department. Last week, Officer White responded to a complaint of kids "loudly" playing basketball in the street at 5 p.m. (and this was only a Friday). When he showed up, he found a few young people milling about a hoop.

It was kind of ridiculous call and White knew it. So what did he do? He a joined in with the kids to shoot hoops and even got them to lower the basket so he could dunk. Okay, that last part sounds a little weak, but the dude's carrying all that gear. White's dash cam caught the whole thing (you can watch it below) and his superiors weren't even mad. In fact, they uploaded it to the department's official Facebook page with the message that this is how they handle "kids being kids."

This is the "shocking" police video we love to see.

Officer White was recently dispatched to a call of kids playing basketball "loudly" in the streets. In the evening. Having fun. Not committing crimes. Let's see how he handled it.
