'American Horror Story' Boss Confirms Angela Bassett Returning For Season 6?

Bates has been part of the American Horror Story family since season 3, Coven, where she played 180-year-old racist socialite Madame LaLaurie. The breakout role became a fan favorite and ultimately resulted in an Emmy win for Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie.

The legendary actress would then return for season 4 of American Horror Story, titled Freak Show. There, she played Ethel Darling, a bearded lady in a freak show troupe. She was nominated for an Emmy for this role, but she wound up losing.

In this past season, Hotel, Bates took on the role of hotel manager Iris. While the character would eventually contract the blood virus, this was Bates' most grounded role in the series yet. It remains to be seen if she will nab her third consecutive Emmy nomination.

It is also unknown if Bates will return for season 6 of American Horror Story. The actress is frequently busy with both film and television, so it's possible she may take a year off. But considering her star power, showrunner Ryan Murphy and company will probably want her to return for season 6, especially with the continued lack of Jessica Lange.
