Actor Neil Patrick Harris and his longtime partner David Burtka got engaged after the Marriage Equality Act was passed in New York in 2011, but according to the National Enquirer, the same-sex couple may be calling off their wedding.

"They're barely speaking, and as of now there's no wedding in the immediate future," a source told The Enquirer.

A dispute started when the How I Met Your Mother star, 39, got extremely angry over something David, 37, an E! Network correspondent, said. They were allegedly on their way to a big Hollywood party at TinselTown, when the fight erupted. It allegedly got so heated that the couple did not go home together that night.

"They walked into the party mad at each other," a source recalled. "They both threw back a couple of whiskeys and that only made things worse."

Neil and David have been together for quite some time, as their first public appearance as a couple was at the 2007 Emmy awards. If the couple decides to split, they will have to fight for custody over their two-year-old twins Gideon and Harper.

Last summer, the couple took Oprah Winfrey on a tour of their home, showing off Harris' "magic man room" and the nursery the couple built for the twins. The two seemed happily in love.

"They[the twins] love to read," Burtka said.

According to Hollywood Life, gossip columnist Rob Shuter also known as Naughty But Nice Rob, tweeted on Feb. 27, "BREAKING: Report saying Neil Patrick Harris and his longtime partner David Burtka have called off the wedding. I haven't confirmed yet."

"Neil's still mad and David is terrified he's going to lose him," the source said.
