There is no doubt that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have definitely had their ups and downs in their marriage. In fact, the couple went through a brief separation back in 2014 before giving their relationship another try. Now, the Hollywood actor is opening up about their reconciliation and how they try hard to make things work.

Michael and Catherine, who share two children together, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 11, first tied the knot back in November of 2000. Together, they battled through some major life events and changes, including Michael's throat cancer and treatment and Catherine's bi-polar disease.

And even though they were close to throwing in the towel, Michael says they both had to make some major changes and compromises while fighting for their family.

According to Naughty Gossip on Saturday, he said, "I don't think there's much chance of fixing a relationship if one of you is already out the door. I think we're both mellower and wiser. That comes naturally with time. We count our blessings."

Now, the couple tries to live as much of their life out of the spotlight while splitting their time between New York City and Michael's native Bermuda.
