She's a successful, Oscar-winning actress with a busy career as well as motherhood, but Nicole Kidman has admitted that giving up her career to focus on being a stay-at-home mother to her daughters with Keith Urban wouldn't have worked for her.

In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, the actress, 48, opened up about how spending time with seven-year-old Sunday Rose and five-year-old Faith Margaret makes her happiest, but she still needs to express her artistic side, which she does through her career.

"I want to be around them, I'm the happiest when I'm around them," she said. "It's that simple. But for me to completely give up doing any of this, what would I do artistically?"

"I don't want to be the mother who lives vicariously through my daughters, so I'm trying to balance it," she continued. "There was a period where I didn't do anything, and my mum said, 'I really think you need to get back and do something. In the long run, that's probably going to be better for everyone in the family, because you're an artist."

Kidman is not only a mother to the daughters she shares with Urban, but is the adoptive mother to Connor and Isabella Cruise with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise as well. And she now admits that if she had the time, she would consider adopting another child now with Urban, but she knows it's not something she can guarantee being able to do.

"There's only so much time and I'm very responsible with that," she said.
