Survivor: Kaôh Rōng is expected to be the most intense season ever--and the struggle begins in the premiere.

'Survivor' Host Jeff Probst Teases Special 'Super Idol' For Next Season

The 32nd season of Survivor has been hyped up as the most grueling one yet, and according to a new press release from CBS, it starts early. The press release is for the premiere, titled "I'm a Mental Giant," and reads as follows:

"Castaways embark on the most grueling 39 days in Survivor history and test whether brute strength, looks or smarts will be the attribute that helps capture the title of Sole Survivor. Also, one castaway deals with excruciating pain when a bug gets stuck in their ear."

Can Kyle Jason Emulate Russell Hantz's Gameplay & Still Win 'Survivor'?

Survivor host Jeff Probst previously spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the intensity of the upcoming season.

"This season is also going to see a lot of hardship," Probst stated. "From the extreme of an evacuation to something as small as a really bad sunburn, every day truly posed a new risk to this group. The heat, the rain, the bugs and the infections were a daily obstacle."

Considering the amount of injuries and brutality being hyped up, the new season will probably feature a lot more of the survival aspects than we've seen recently. The series has generally evolved to focusing on the strategy of the game, with very few traces of the hardship featured prominently in the first few seasons.

So longtime fans who pine for the early days of focusing significantly on the elements may appreciate a return to the balance of survival and gameplay.

Survivor: Kaôh Rōng - Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty premieres Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
